GMA seems like the worst place to try and lose weight. As mentioned last week, every meeting seems to revolve around food, not only that, but many of these meetings happen at night. For instance, Monday night around 9:30 I was sitting with Krystal Myers and Dawn from Fireflight (yeah, I'm not above a bit of name droppin') dipping Rice Krispy Treats and Cheesecake into melted chocolate and marshmallow at a Fondue party. This is not a recipe for dropping pounds. However somehow, when I stepped on the scale this morning I was down four pounds from last week.

How is this possible?

My guess is that I burned a lot of calories walking around Nashville and running 4 miles every morning, still I can't tell you how pleased I was to know that despite some splurging I not only hit my halfway point this week, I surpassed it by 2 pounds. I'm now just 7 pounds away from my birthday goal with one month left, and 17 pounds away from the elusive 200s. I've lost weight before but I am entering rare territory here in the next few weeks. The lightest I've been since my Freshman year of college is around 285-290, and that only lasted a few weeks. I'm excited to see exactly how far I can take this and it feels more and more real every week.

Thanks for checking in with me this week and if you haven't signed up to pledge do so now.

Sorry for the brevity of the post, but I'm down in Nashville tonight and on a borrowed laptop. I lost another pound this week and the slow down would be more depressing if it weren't for the fact that I caught some sort of stomach flu earlier this week that dropped 4 pounds off me. On Wednesday I was at 318, so I knew when I got better that my body would want to put some weight back on (including all the water weight I dropped). The real test will be this week as I'm at this conference where every meeting seems to center around food. I will still make it my goal to hit my halfway point this week (2 more pounds!) but it will be a struggle for sure.

What an insane week. If you haven't been following the Fuse Fundrive this week, just know it's one of those weeks that takes all of your focus and energy to get through. Every year around this time we go on the air and specifically ask new supporters of the station to come on board. We had a great time and raised some money for the Fuse and owe a great deal of thanks to a lot of people who helped make it possible, including those who brought in meals over the Monday to Thursday time frame. Though I must admit, "Thank You" wasn't exactly on my mind when all that delicious food was hanging out begging to be eaten and I'm trying to stick to my eating plan.

Here's how the week went down.

Weekend -3
Monday +2
Tuesday +2
Wednesday -2
Thursday -2

Those weigh ins direct relate to how focused I was on my eating. It's not that I did any binging or anything, but on Monday and Tuesday, I would have Pizza for my snack instead of an apple and so on. After weighing on Wednesday I knew I need to buckle down and get back to business and thankfully my body responded. It's also a testament to how much the body can fluctuate over the week and a good reason to only really measure progress by weekly tally.

Thanks again for your support and be ready for next week, I'm hoping to be able to use the word "halfway".

I honestly don't know how long this will continue, but I'm gonna enjoy it while I can. Another four pounds this week is pretty amazing and if the pace does keep up I'll be on the verge of crossing 300 in about a month.

Monday marks my fourth month complete in this journey, and I can't be anything but exuberant about where I am. If this continues for one more week, I will have basically hit the halfway point at the 4 month mark. Of course, from what I understand this is probably a good thing, considering the last 20 pounds will probably take me a few months. Whatever the case, I'm committed to seeing this through and weeks like this make it that much easier.

Another thing that makes it easier is when people encourage me by pledging. Click the above link and do a dollar a pound or whatever works best for your budget. All money goes to keep The Fuse on the air and it's a great opportunity to both support a great station and keep me motivated. I owe a huge THANK YOU to Rachael this week for coming on board and telling others about what's going on as well. It means so much to me.

Thanks again for continuing to check in, and hopefully the chant will continue next week.

4 MORE POUNDS! 4 MORE POUNDS! 4 MORE POUNDS!
