If you wondering why I didn't lose any weight this week, I think it just comes down to the wrong meal at the wrong time. This week I was invited over to Chicago to meet up with Third Day and new artist Brooke Barretsmith for some hang time. The problem is this hang time involved eating at a couple pretty incredible restaurants in downtown Chicago, where I decided to splurge a little (I had the Max Burger, which involves a full cow ground into beef with cheese, bacon, and yes, boneless ribs on top of it. Plus I'm sure they slothered some butter on my buns as well (Can we all just make sure to keep that statement in context please?). The point is, that by the time dessert was served (I ordered a dozen of their specialty cookies, but only ate 2) I had consumed a fair amount of evening calories. Seeing as this was Wednesday night, it fell at exactly the wrong moment in my week to make for a good weigh in. I also know for a fact that I weighed 308 Wednesday morning, so hopefully I'll be back there or lower by next Friday.

I'm also sure it didn't help that the guys in Third Day introduced me to one of their favorite desserts, called a beignet (Ben-Yay), that was basically a double fried ball of dough that melts in your mouth and tastes like God himself crafted it.

Whatever. It's not every week that you eat at a fancy downtown restaurant in Chicago with Third Day, so hopefully I'll start the downward trend again next week.

2 more pounds this week, and I expect that to continue for a while. I think the days of 4 or 5 pound drops are behind me and I'm into "the grind". The great news is that I'm on the verge of hitting 60 pounds and therefore 60% of my goal. The other great news is that I am 10 pounds away from the 200s, a magical place that has previously existed through some sort of Narnian transport. Honestly, other than a brief week or two about 5 years ago, I think it's been since 1994 or so since I've been in that hallowed land. Once I see it again, I plan on taking up residence and never leaving again.

You might know that the 300 threshold also marks the moment when I shave my "fat beard". In honor of both the impending shaving, and the Red Wings and Pistons amazing playoff runs, I have decided not to even trim my facial hair until the moment arrives. I figure I've got another month or so, and I might as well see how far I can take this thing. My wife has threatened to stop kissing me if it goes too far, but honestly, I bet on her breaking on that one before I do.

Don't forget to pledge, and I'll see you next Friday!

2 pounds down this week, and I'm actually disappointed. Because I weigh myself daily I have a pretty good handle on the fluctuations of my body, but this week has been crazy, with more ups and downs than usual. The reason I'm disappointed is that I know for most of this week I hovered near the 310 mark and then for whatever reason, I weighed in at 312 come scale time. Hopefully that means next week I'll hit it out of the park. Of course the truth is that the actual numbers are meaningless as compared to the decisions I make every day about exercise and diet, and I think I'm still doing very well with those. I also switched up my workout schedule (I'm running outside Tue and Thu now and not going to the gym) so I know that can have an impact as well.

Whatever the case, as always, I appreciate your support of this journey. 269 gets more realistic every week and it won't be long before I break the 300 mark. It won't happen by my birthday, but it will happen soon. My original goal was to be at 310 by my Bday and that means I need to lose 2 pounds this week. Could it happen? Stay tuned.

I knew it was lingering out there, I've heard enough people who have lost weight talk about it, so I figured it would happen eventually, it's the dreaded wall. After loosing some great weight for several weeks now, to come up against a goose egg is a bit frustrating, but it's hard to complain too much when things have been going so well. My hope is that it won't last too long, and that I'll be able to push through it quickly. I've learned enough to know that I'm doing the right things and it will pay off eventually, but seeing the zero is still a bummer, so I hope it's just a one week thing.

Thanks for checkin' in and if you haven't pledged yet there is still plenty of time to get on board!

Yes, I lost another 3 pounds this week and yes my goal continues to get closer and closer. In fact, my preliminary goal is to be at 310 by my birthday and consider that is still almost 4 weeks away, I think I'm gonna blow that away. Is it possible that I could see the magic 2 at the beginning of my weight by then? Stay tuned.

This week however is all about what I've learned so far in my journey. Some simple thoughts from me to you as someone who is finding a way to lose weight.

Things Dice Learned in the first 50 pounds:

1) Runners aren't insane, they just have addictive personalities.

2) Lettuce is what's known as a food.

3) 3 pieces of pizza is just fine.

4) Drinking lots of water not only is good for your system, it also induces exercise, running to the bathroom.

5) Not all trainers ride you piggy back like they do on The Biggest Loser.

Speaking of "The Biggest Loser" I ran into Dan (son from the mom and son team this year) down in Nashville last week and he gave me his email and phone number to do an interview with Lose for the Fuse. So if you have any questions for him, please leave them in the comments or email them to me so that I can be sure and ask. I'll probably give him a call in about two weeks so just let me know.

Can't wait to see what I learn in the next 50!
